Monkey Mia - a touch of Paradise

Well Ms C and I were both confused between Monkey Mia, Shark Bay and Denham. Turns out Shark Bay and Denham are the same place and Monkey Mia is the resort about 30mins out of town.

We spent 3 nights at Monkey Mia and think that has been the last of Ms C’s outdoor swimming for the next few months. The ocean was about 22degrees and the swimming pool about 24 degrees – she did get in each day BUT she looooooked COLD!.  Very popular place for travellers and we enjoyed our stay.

The emus came to greet us from when we first drove up and kept coming back to our room each day – I think they wanted to make friends with me BUT communication was a little difficult as I do not speak ‘Emu’ and they did not speak ‘Lizard’.

Made the most of viewing the dolphins that come into the shore each morning, I was a little scared but stayed back a little, they were soooooooo CUTE!  We had about 7 or so come to say hello each morning. The lady told me Piccolo was actually 28 years old…….hard to believe. Dolphins live to be about 40 years of age.

We also ventured off on a sunset cruise around the bay – that was special and a little cool towards the end BUT the colours in the night sky were speccy!.

The Ocean Park Aquarium is fairly impressive and the guides on the tour very knowledgeable.

We got to see so many types of fish [even like Nemo BUT not the same colour as the ones in WA are not bright orange] and sharks and even saw the shark feeding. I was VERY worried.......

Check out some of these pics and videos

Off to Perth now……we will have done just over 6000kms by the time we arrive in Perth in just over 3 weeks since leaving Darwin.
