Exmouth - we arrived after over 3000kms travelled

Well on Friday after about 5hours in the car [with a few quick stops for fuel and to use facilities] we arrived in Exmouth. Exmouth is a town on the tip of the North West Cape and on Exmouth Gulf in Western Australia. The town was established in 1967.

We had a fab time in Exmouth settled in our luxury house right on the new canal area of town. Ms C and I both enjoyed staying put for a week and not packing up and moving each few days. We had the HUUUUGE bedroom upstairs with our very own balcony with a lounger chair for me and I for Ms C to watch the sunrise….not that Ms C made it for that! We even had out very own hot tub / spa in our back yard.

There are some fab spots and places to explore through the Ningaloo Marine Park and so much wildlife to see in the ocean, the waters and on the land.

Ms C had not told me much about Exmouth or really what to expect but it was a very relaxed holiday town….usually about 2400 people but we hear swells to over 6000 people in tourist times. Loads of CafĂ©’s, restaurants and places to visit.

After a check in at the Visitors centre [where we found loads of furry friends for me to play with ]we found out the best places to go and luckily we were all good at following directions on maps.

We explored and found ourselves out at Turquoise Bay – reportedly one of the best beaches in the world! It certainly was fab even if a little windy the afternoon we were there.

We also explored Vlaminghead lighthouse [it was so high up so they could guide the ships safely into port years ago – not operating now, the Harold Holt Naval Communication Station and the 12 antenna / communication towers built  to track and monitor ocean movements. They were soooooo HIGH! Lots of secret spy business goes on around this town from what John [our boat Captain] told me.

One night Ms C, Sam and Tony went out for a fancy dinner at Mantarays Resort[the girls even put dresses on – it must have been a flash place]  BUT Ms C said I had to stay home as it would be a late night and way past my bed time. I was not happy BUT when I reflected I was Ok as I was all full of energy to go exploring again the next morning!

BUT Another evening through using our Communication tool Ms C and I convinced the friends to join us at the Country Music place down the road [Cadillac] – loads of atmosphere and artefacts to explore, look at and really fab country music plating all night. I wanted to do some dancing BUT none of the others would dance with me.  Ms C did not even realise but she went and sat at a table and Sam laughed as she looked on the wall behind Ms C – our favourite Keith Urban!

We went out on an afternoon tour of the world heritage Ningaloo Reef on board a glass bottom viewing boat which semi-submerges.  It was a little scary at first going down into the boat and being under the surface of the water BUT we stayed dry. Sam and Tony took the plunge to snorkel BUT Ms C whimped out as the water looked a tad too cold on that overcast day for her. The viewing of the coral was impressive and an abundance of fish, turtles etc were seen. There were some ladies from Sydney on the boat and they LOVED me and wanted their own selfie with me to show their friends. They said they were going to create a #ALLE.

Sam and Tony both had to leave us from Exmouth – we were so happy that had both joined us for the trip so far. We had all done so well collaborating to plan the trip, agree on where to eat, shop, explore and even when to go to bed.  We had to go to the airport [which was 34kms away] 2 diff days but that was ok as we then explored out that way as well. Both Sam and Tony anted a final selfie with me to take home as we are now great friends.

So Ms C and I then went exploring again and headed out to Yardie Creek for a boat cruise which was about 90mins out of town and quite interesting. We saw black footed wallabies [which are a rare species]  and Ospreys and sea eagles that live in small caves on the cliff face. One of the Osprey pooped onto the boat but luckily did not get any of us on board. We also saw some bats and some a pointed black whale shark – Ms C tried to get a photo of it in the water BUT not very clear!

I even got to help a couple of young girls [Emily and Monique] drive the boat down the gorge. They wanted photos with me too to take back to their school in Perth – I am becoming quite famous.

On the way back to town we stopped in at Sandy Bay and then Turquoise bay for a dip at both places. Only us and 3 others at Sandy Bay BUT Turquoise Bay was jam packed. Ms C also took the plunge most days at the local town pool BUT was advised it was shutting Friday for the season as tooooo cold for the locals to swim.

Ms C has now named her car ‘Cosmo’ as it is Cosmic Blue BUUUUUT it is very dirty inside and out – even sand has gotten in as we have been to all the bays and beaches.  We did go to the car wash place once day and Tony tried washing it but the water appeared to make it worse. I keep telling Ms C it needs a VERY good clean SOON!
